No One Should Face ALS Alone

Submitted by ALS of Utica

An ALS diagnosis doesn’t just affect one person. It changes an entire family.

Suddenly, families are navigating medical decisions, emotional uncertainty, financial pressures and a future they never expected. Even everyday needs can become difficult, and many of the expenses associated with ALS aren’t covered by insurance or Medicare.

That is where ALS of Utica steps in.

For more than two decades, this local nonprofit has supported individuals and families affected by ALS in Oneida and Herkimer Counties—providing emotional and financial assistance while helping families navigate the challenges of an ALS diagnosis and preserve dignity and quality of life.

But ALS of Utica is more than a list of resources. It walks alongside families.

Support may mean helping with an unexpected expense, making it possible for someone to remain safely at home, assisting with transportation or medications, or simply being there when a family doesn’t know where to turn.

ALS of Utica also helps families prepare for what lies ahead through services such as estate planning and its annual Wish Grant Program—because living with ALS shouldn’t mean giving up every opportunity to create meaningful memories.

Perhaps most remarkable, ALS of Utica is 100% volunteer. It is powered by people who choose to give their time, resources and hearts to local families facing one of life’s most difficult diagnoses.

There is no cure for ALS yet. But there can be compassion. There can be practical help. There can be dignity. There can be someone to call.

And there can be someone willing to walk beside you.
