AI-Powered Robotic System Available at Rome Health for Treatment of Enlarged Prostate

AMP Urology specialists will perform Aquablation therapy at Rome Health using the new HYDROS Robotic System to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate. It provides significant, long-lasting relief for men with prostates of nearly any size or shape, while preserving sexual function and continence.

Rome Health is expanding its robotic surgery program to provide men with a new minimally invasive option to treat an enlarged prostate while preserving sexual function and continence.

AMP Urology specialists will perform Aquablation therapy at Rome Health using the new HYDROS Robotic System to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate.

Five medical doctors from AMP Urology — Jeffrey J. Sekula, Daniel R. Welchons, Anuj K. Chopra, Ronald I. Kaye and Po N. Lam — will perform the procedure at Rome Health using the advanced, AI-powered robotic system.

BPH is a common condition that affects millions of men as they age, making it difficult to urinate and fully empty the bladder. Symptoms can include urgency, increased frequency and waking multiple times at night to urinate. If left untreated, BPH can lead to permanent bladder or kidney damage, bladder stones or incontinence.

“Aquablation therapy gives men a solution that relieves symptoms without the difficult trade-offs often associated with traditional surgery,” said Sekula. “Men can get back to their daily routines — and maintain sexual function and continence.”

Aquablation therapy is the only treatment that uses real-time ultrasound imaging with a robotic-controlled waterjet to precisely remove prostate tissue while preserving structures that control sexual function and urinary continence. It provides significant, long-lasting relief for men with prostates of nearly any size or shape.

“Far too many men struggle in silence with BPH symptoms when help is available,” said Welchons.

Rome Health’s robotics expansion is supported by its recent opening of a state-of-the-art surgical center, advancing the organization’s commitment to bringing leading-edge care close to home.
