Registered nurse Shyla Edwards has joined the MVHS Thoracic Surgery Group as nurse navigator. In this role, Edwards will be the primary point of contact for patients and families seen in the thoracic surgery office and will provide individualized assistance to help overcome healthcare system barriers and facilitate timely access to quality healthcare from pre diagnosis through all phases of care.
Prior to this role, Edwards served as a case manager for Senior Network Health in Utica; as a registered nurse in the PACU at Rome Health in Rome; as a registered nurse with Mohawk Valley Endoscopy Center in Utica; and as a surgery scheduler with Surgical Associates of Utica.
Edwards earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica.
